LADY TROJANS LOSE TO DESERT MIRAGE AT HOME

The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity soccer team took a loss last night 1-0. Junior varsity won 3-0.

Coach Jolene Pessa said, “The girls were able to maintain possession in the offensive half of the field with 14 attempted shots on goal. Our last home game will be Thursday against Twentynine Palms. We will honor our seniors prior to the game and come out strong to bring home the win.”

She added that the junior varsity team has really improved this season individually and as a team. “They have learned new positions and have been executing the lessons taught during practice throughout the game. Defensive player Andrea Ouk-Gutierrez has really stepped up to own her new role as a sweeper in holding the defensive line strong.”

Sarah Krenelka scored two goals tonight from set plays—one from a penalty kick, and the other from a direct free kick outside the 18.
