LADY TROJANS FALL TO XAVIER PREP, EYEING MATCHUP WITH LADY CATS

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team dropped its second game in a row by a 57-46 score in a non-league game against Xavier Prep High School Thursday (January 27) afternoon in Palm Desert.

The Lady Trojans found themselves trailing by a 31-29 score at halftime but struggled in the third quarter and were outscored 14-6 by the Saints as the home team gained control of the game.

Sophomore Cadence Tarrant scored a team-high 15 points while junior Malia Ulery posted 12 points. Senior Maliah Rodriguez knocked in 11 points. Juniors Ashley Lowe and Jaylie Schreiber each hit a 3-point basket while freshman Tayla Monroy added 2 points to finish the scoring.

The team’s overall record fell to 14-4 with a road game against the Twentynine Palms High School Lady Cats next on the schedule (Tuesday, February 1). Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. in Richard Casey Memorial Gymnasium.
