The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team came from behind in regulation time to capture an exciting 65-56 overtime win over Coachella Valley Thursday night in Trojan Gym.

Coach Jess Geeson said senior Angie Reutgen hit a three-point basket with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter to put the Yucca Valley girls up 56-55.

After a Trojan foul, Coachella made one of two free throws to send the game into overtime. In the overtime period, Reutgen nailed another three-point basket and went four-for-four on free throws. That, along with sophomore Sara Mills going two-for-two from the charity stripe in the extra period, gave the home team a thrilling win.

Reutgen finished with a game-high 22 points while Mills netted 15, including nine in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Loryn Brimhall added 10 points while freshman Maliah Rodriguez had nine points for the squad. The team pulled into a third place tie with Coachella Valley with a home game next Tuesday night against Banning as they try to start a win streak. Tip time for the game is 7:30 p.m. after the boys’ varsity game versus the
Broncos.
