Lady Trojans basketball defeated by Ellensburg Bulldogs

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans basketball team returned to the court for the first time in twelve days  and were handed a 70-30 loss to Ellensburg HS from Washington in a first round game at the Rancho Mirage Holiday Tournament.

The Bulldogs are the two time Division 2A Washington state champions and are riding a 62 game winning streak as they came to the desert looking to continue their unbeaten season.

Coach Jess Geeson said the Yucca girls were unable to get much of anything going their way as they fell behind 40-12 at the half.

Senior Cadence Tarrant was able to score 16 points to lead the squad. Junior Tayla Monroy chipped in 8 points and sophomore Teagan Moon added 5 points.

The loss dropped the Lady Trojans record to 10-3 on the season. The team hits the court again on Thursday 12/28 when they face Desert Christian Academy HS. The Conquerors are 9-4 on the season. Tip off is at 425pm at Shadow Hills HS in Indio.
