The Lady Trojan basketball team, playing their first game after the Thanksgiving break, came up on the short end of 65-57 score against Rialto High Schoo in a first round game at the Redlands East Valley HS Invitational Tournament.
The Yucca girls held a 34-29 lead at halftime but struggled in the third quarter getting outscored 20-8 in the third quarter and trailed 42-49 starting the final quarter. The girls got within 4 points with two minutes remaining but could not get closer as the Knights sealed the win.
Senior Malia Ulery scored a team high 23 points while junior Cadence Tarrant pumped in 16 points. Sophomore Tayla Monroy scored 6 points and senior Jaylie Schreiber added 5 points. The loss dropped the season record to 3-3 with a second round tournament game against Xavier Prep on Thursday (December 1) at 530pm.
