The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team started the CIF State playoffs off with a 52-26 Division 4 first-round win over Garfield High School Tuesday (March 1) night in Trojan Gym.
Junior Malia Ulery led the team with 21 points, including 4 three-point baskets. Sophomore Cadence Tarrant was a force on both ends of the court scoring 19 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and blocking 5 shots. Senior Maliah Rodriguez knocked in 3 three-point baskets for her 9 points and junior Jaylie Schreiber added 3 points.
The #1 seeded Lady Trojans get another home game on Thursday (March 3) when they host Corcoran High School from the Tulare area in Round 2. The Panthers are the CIF Central Section Division 5 champions. Game time is set for 5 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the door with a mobile device. Adult tickets are $9 and student tickets are $5. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
