In the Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer against Desert Mirage High School yesterday, Yucca Valley lost 2-1; junior varsity lost 1-0.
By Head Coach Jolene Pessa
The girls played a highly competitive game against Desert Mirage Wednesday evening. Sophomore Evelyn Villalva has shown tremendous growth; she really stepped up today in the midfield to show us just what she is made of. Forward Rylee Nutter displayed great determination in this game as well. She was pulled back to support the midfield and did so without hesitation. Desert Mirage was at a 2-0 lead heading into the second half. Rylee Nutter scored our goal in the second half off a deflection from the opponent’s defense.
The next game is Friday at Cathedral City High School.
Junior varsity Coach Dawn Boatman said the JV girls held their stamina with the warmer weather against Desert Mirage even though it was a loss, 1-0. The girls had a couple crosses and four shots on goal.
“We had some awesome plays by #4, sweeper, Rosé Alfonso.”
