In Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer against Coachella Valley High School Friday at home, varsity girls lost 2-1. The junior varsity girls lost, 5-1.
The varsity goal was scored by Rylee Nutter.
Coach Jolene Pessa said, “When you look at a score you see a team that won and the team that lost. This game was so close and so intense, it doesn’t seem fair to just post a score. These girls played so hard and so well, there was no loss today. YVHS Trojans held strong, tied up against the number-one team in the league tonight we fell short by just one goal in the last 10 minutes of the game. Our girls had many great shots on goal, our defense made amazing saves. I am very proud of this team, our team. They showed up today to win, and regardless of the score, we did that today.”
Assistant Coach Dawn Boatman said the junior varsity girls fought hard today against tough Coachella Valley High School even though it was a loss, 5-1. The goal was scored by Allison Burroughs with an assist from Cat Martinez. The girls continue to show improvement in their passing and moving into space quicker.
Although the Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer came out strong against Cathedral City on Saturday, the Lady Trojans lost, 3-1. Coach Jolene Pessa said, “We were in the lead with a score of 1-0 at half time. Cathedral City High School tied up the game 1-1 in the second half, forcing us into overtime.”
