LADY TROJAN BASKETBALL WINS IN SECOND ROUND OF PLAYOFFS

With revenge on their mind after two early-season losses the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team was able to turn the tables on the Riverside Poly High School Bears and pull off a 55-43 second-round CIF Division 3AA playoff win Wednesday (February 16) night in Trojan Gym.

The Lady Trojans took a 28-18 lead into halftime on a buzzer-beating 3 point basket by senior Lili Rodriguez and were able to keep the Bears at that deficit for most of the second half.

Junior Ashley Lowe was spectacular knocking down 5 three-point baskets for her 15 points. She was followed by Rodriguez with 14 points including 4 three-point baskets and junior Malia Ulery scored 11 points along with passing out 6 assists. Sophomore Cadence Tarrant was a big problem for the Bears scoring 11 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and blocking 6 shots.

The team advances to the CIF quarterfinals on Saturday (February 19) night when they travel to Oak Hills High School near Hesperia. Game time is TBA.
