LADY TROJAN BASKETBALL TEAM MOVES INTO CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND TONIGHT

In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team advanced to the championship game in the Riverside Poly High School Raincross tournament with a 68-45 win over the host Bears on Thursday evening. With the win, the girls play for the tournament championship at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the Ayala Bulldogs at Riverside Poly High School.

Coach Jess Geeson said Junior Sara Mills paced the team with 20 points. Senior Coy Smith continued her strong play with 14 points and six steals. Freshman Malia Ulery knocked down three 3-point baskets on her way to 11 points, while sophomore Chloe McNellie chipped in eight points and five assists. Junior Meagan Lowe held her own against the taller Bears scoring six points and grabbing eight rebounds.
