The Lady Trojan varsity basketball team continued to wreck havoc on their Desert Valley League opponents taking down third place Coachella Valley High School by a 86-42 score Thursday evening (January 19) in Trojan Gym.
The Yucca girls used some hot shooting and a swarming defense to jump out to a 47-22 halftime lead on their way to improving their league record to 10-0 and overall record to 18-5.
Junior Cadence Tarrant continued her impressive season scoring a game high 26 points and ripping down 14 rebounds. Junior Malia Ulery knocked down 19 points on a night where she was honored for joining the Lady Trojan 1,000 career point club before the game. Sophomore Tayla Monroy hit 4 three-point baskets on her way to 14 points while sophomore CeCe Gilmore was a spark off the bench netting 8 points. Senior Jaylie Schreiber contributed 7 points while senior Ashley Lowe added 5 points. Freshman Teagan Moon chipped in 4 points and Julia Castillo completed the scoring with 3 points.
The team heads to the Glendora High School Shootout on Saturday January 21, to face a talented Highland HS team from Palmdale currently ranked #6 in Division 3AA. Tip off is set for 10:30 am.
