The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team suffered their first loss of the season last night losing 55-42 to the Hemet Bulldogs in a first round game at the West Valley Mustang Tournament.

Coach Jess Geeson said the Yucca Valley High School girls couldn’t find their offensive rhythm after a nine-day gap between games. Coupled with the struggles in scoring, the girls also found themselves in foul trouble most of the game, allowing the Bulldogs to outscore them 21-6 from the free-throw line.
Freshman Malia Ulery led the team 14 points while junior Sara Mills chipped in 11 points. Sophomore Maliah Rodriguez added eight points.
The team returns to action today with a second round game at 4:30 p.m. against Elsinore High School.
