Traveling to Thermal Wednesday (December 15) afternoon the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team came home with a 74-10 victory over the Desert Mirage High School Rams.
Using a suffocating defense the ladies blew out to a 47-0 halftime lead against the overmatched Rams as the Trojans improved their Desert Valley League record to 3-0 and overall record to 8-3.
Junior Malia Ulery’s 19 points led the team while sophomore Cadence Tarrant continued her strong season adding 18 points. Junior Ashley Lowe scored a season-high 16 points and senior Maliah Rodriguez knocked down four 3-point baskets for her 12 points. Senior Heather Hiday posted 7 points and freshman Macy Yakutis rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
The team returns to action Thursday (December 16) night with a 6 p.m. game in Trojan Gym. The game is preceded by a 3:15 p.m. JV girls’ game and a 4:30 p.m. boys JV game. The 2-0 boys’ varsity squad ends the evening with a 7:30 p.m. contest. All four teams will be hosting Coachella Valley High School.
