The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team suffered their first loss of the season yesterday (November 18), 48-44 to tournament host Riverside Poly, in the semifinals of the Raincross Preseason tournament.
Trailing 12-4 after the first quarter the Yucca girls rallied to tie the game 42-42 late in the fourth quarter on a freshman Tayla Monroy three-point basket but the Bears hit four free throws in the last minute to seal the win.
Sophomore Cadence Tarrant had a game-high 19 points along with 15 rebounds. She was followed by junior Malia Ulery with 12 points and junior Ashley Lowe’s added 7 points. The team takes on Ayala High School tonight (November 19) at 6 p.m. in the tournament’s third-place game.
