The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team’s rally from a 14 point first half deficit came up short as they fell to the Twentynine Palms Lady Cats 59-54 Tuesday (February 1) afternoon in the Richard Casey Memorial Gym.
The Lady Trojans were able to get within a 51-50 score with two minutes remaining in the game but couldn’t take the lead as the Lady Cats were able to weather the furious comeback.
Junior Malia Ulery was a spark all game scoring a game high 24 points. Sophomore Cadence Tarrant battled her way to 15 points. She was followed by senior Maliah Rodriguez with 7 points and junior Ashley Lowe with 6 points. Senior Heather Hiday added 2 points to complete the scoring.
The Lady Trojans can clinch their third consecutive Desert Valley League title when they host the Banning Broncos on Thursday (February 3) afternoon in Trojan Gym. Both teams are undefeated in the COVID abbreviated first round league standings. The Lady Trojans are 6-0 and the Broncos are 5-0. Tip-off is at 4:30 p.m.
