The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan varsity basketball team opened up their 2021-22 Desert Valley League season with an impressive 86-7 win at Cathedral City High School Wednesday (December 8) night. The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 30-2 lead after the first quarter against an out manned Lion squad as they improved their overall record to 6-3 and league record to 1-0. Junior Malia Ulery led a balanced attack with 23 points. She was helped by senior Heather Hiday’s 20 points and sophomore Cadence Tarrant’s 18 points. Junior Jaylie Schreiber scored 14 points and senior Maliah Rodriguez added 7 points. The teams next game is their home opener Friday (December 10) against Desert Hot Springs. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Trojan Gym.
