The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team traveled to Banning High School Wednesday night and returned home with a 49-12 win in a Desert Valley League contest.
Coach Jess Geeson said the Lady Trojans burst out to a 33-2 halftime lead, holding the Broncos scoreless in the first quarter.
With the clock running for the second half, the Yucca Valley girls finished the game outscoring the host squad 16-10 in the second half to earn their ninth straight win. The victory improved the team’s Desert Valley League record to 11-0 and overall record to 21-3.
Junior Sara Mills was the benefactor of some opportunistic defense and good passing from her teammates to finish the game with 24 points. Freshman Malia Ulery added eight points and senior Coy Smith knocked in seven points.
The team hits the road again Friday night with a game at Coachella Valley High School before returning home for the final two games of the regular season when they host Twentynine Palms on Tuesday, February 4, and Indio for Senior Night on Thursday, February 6, in Trojan Gym. All games are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
