LACK OF FUNDING MAY CANCEL YUCCA VALLEY ROTARY FIREWORKS SHOW

The Yucca Valley Fourth of July fireworks show, put on by the Yucca Valley Rotary Club, may be canceled due to lack of funds. Club president John Babrowski said in previous years, the club received at least half of the funds for the fireworks show from the Town of Yucca Valley or the County, but due to budget constraints, neither have allocated any money toward the fireworks show. Babrowski said, “The high cost of a fireworks show has gone up over the years so that we are now spending over $20,000 on our typical show.” In 2012, the Rotary club received $10,000 from the county, and raised the balance through the sale of glow items at the field, food sales, firework collection cans in town businesses, and business solicitations. The Rotary Club is urging businesses and individuals to help sponsor the event. Sponsorships range from $1000 and up. Sponsors will have a booth at the event and will be included in all advertising for the fireworks show. The Rotary Club must confirm their intention to have a fireworks show with the pyrotechnic company by May 1. Sponsorship forms can be found on the Yucca Valley Rotary page at yvrotary.org, or call Cynthia Kraemer at 760-365-1988.
