Kyle Petty, a NASCAR race car driver turned NASCAR TV analyst is starting his 22nd Kyle Petty Ride Across America. Petty’s first stop on the ride is the AM/PM gas station in Twentynine Palms. Z107.7’s Morning Show personality Pat Michaels talked with Petty the other day about his charity ride. “You are our first stop on the 22nd ride. We’ve been doing this 22 years riding from the West Coast to the East Coast to raise awareness for a camp in North Carolina called Victory Junction for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. We’ll be there about 10:15 a.m. for 45 minutes to an hour. There’ll be Donnie Allison, Harry Gant, Herschel Walker. So come on out, have your picture taken with them, let’s talk racing and motorcycles. It will be hard to miss Petty and his team, as he won’t be riding alone. “About 110-115 motorcycles. We’ll travel from here over the next seven days, we’ll go from Palm Springs, California, to Biloxi, Mississippi.” The ride raises funds to send the children to the Victory Junction camp free of charge.
