The 10th annual King of the Hammers off-road races is a week-long event that pits off-road racers against the most extreme terrain in Johnson Valley. Between 25,000 and 35,000 people are expected to fill Hammertown, the temporary village out in the Johnson Valley Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area. Admission to the King of the Hammers is $20 for the week. In the KLIM King of the Motos race Sunday, the winner of the Moto Pro was Cody Webb of Watsonville. Don Boespflug of Battle Ground, Washington, won the Moto Sportsmen class, and winner of the Moto Team was Michael Salsman and Ty Cullins of Canyon Lake.
Starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow is the 4-wheel parts qualifying course. An awards ceremony will be held at 3:45 tomorrow for shoot-out participants. A mandatory drivers meeting for all King of the Hammers UTV racers is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. Hammertown vendors will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
