Just say no to table scraps – the rich and unique foods we enjoy at Thanksgiving can do a number on our after-dinner motivation.. It can also negatively affect pets who get fed foods that they may not be used to:
Never give poultry bones to your dogs. Turkey and chicken bones may be tempting to give to your pooch – but those bones can break apart and splinter, becoming deadly in your pet’s stomach.
Items used to prepare said turkey can also find their way into a pet’s mouth – items like string, plastic wrap, pop up timers and other items should be discarded immediately so they don’t make their way into your furry friend’s stomach.
Other common items that are actually toxic to dogs include onions, raisins and grapes – all which make appearances in stuffing and other side dishes.
Remind guests that no matter how much your pooch begs for some of those sweet leftover treats, they are better off eating treats made for canines – so stick with the standards and don’t be afraid to treat your dog to some extra milk bones this Thanksgiving – they deserve it for having to smell that turkey cooking all day.
