Keep A Breast Foundation developing new wellness center in Pioneertown

On Friday’s Z107.7 Up Close Show, host Gary Daigneault spoke with Keep A Breast Foundation founder, Shaney Jo Darden. The Yucca Valley-based organization is nonprofit with a mission to reduce breast cancer risk and its impact globally through art, education, prevention and action. On the show, Darden announced a new project that will be breaking ground soon in Pioneertown.
Shaney Jo Darde: “What’s next for Keep A Breast is getting through this year and celebrating as much as we can. We also have another project on the horizon, a local project. We’ve been working on developing a wellness center close to Pappy and Harriet’s, up in that neighborhood.
“Currently, we’re developing what that could look like, we’re doing studies on the land. We were gifted 10-acres of land in that area. We’re working on developing the studies, the land, the programming, everything that we can do to serve families.
“Because over 25 years of doing this work, what we’ve seen and what’s been really loud that isn’t being addressed is the mental toll that this disease takes on, not just the individual, but the whole family.
“There’s not a lot of support out there for mental health. So we really want to be able to support people. How do you get through this disease and come out on the other side?”
