A juvenile was arrested following fighting that broke out at the Pioneer Days carnival in Luckie Park Friday (October 15). Just before 9 p.m., deputies who were assigned to patrol the carnival responded to several large groups that had gathered and began fighting in the center of the carnival. According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff press release, deputies were surrounded by large crowds of people fighting and attempting to assault the deputies. Several additional patrol deputies and California Highway Patrol Officers responded to assist the assigned deputies, surrounded by crowds of over two hundred people.
While apprehending a possible suspect, a deputy was assaulted by a male, 14-year-old, juvenile in the group, and the deputy sustained an injury to his leg. The deputy was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
The juvenile was arrested for assaulting a peace officer and was later cited and released to his parents.
