A jury trial for a Marine accused of shooting his roommate in Twentynine Palms starts today. Brock Myers, 25, who was a corporal with 1st Battalion, 7th Marines at the time of the shooting, said the shooting of Corporal Steven Kohus, 26, in the head on March 2, 2014, was a regrettable accident. Childhood friends in Ohio said they were told by witnesses that the two men were horsing around in the front yard of a home on Saladin Road in Twentynine Palms. Kohus, who was also with 1/7, was pronounced dead at the scene. Myers was charged with murder and has been held without bail since his arrest.
