JURY SELECTION STARTS IN MURDER TRIAL OF TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN

Jury selection is starting today in the murder trial of a Twentynine Palms man accused of stabbing and killing a Yucca Valley man last year. On September 14, 2016, a woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend, Luis Arroyo, 49, had been stabbed in the 7600 block of Cibola Trail. Arroyo was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman gave deputies a description of the suspect, identified as Carlos Herrera, 40, of Twentynine Palms, and his vehicle. Deputies located and stopped Herrera a short time later on eastbound Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms. Herrera was arrested for investigation of murder and has been held without bail in the Morongo Basin Jail.
