The Yucca Valley Trojan junior varsity volleyball team got their revenge on the visiting Indio Rajahs, defeating them in three sets, 27-25, 17-25, and 15-13. The Rajahs won the first league match-up and again defeated the Trojans at a tournament back in September. After these defeats, the Trojan team was motivated for a rematch and beat the Rajahs in the Trojan gym Thursday night.

Trojan serves were on fire during the matches, with Junior Captain Brianna Etter earning six ace serves, Madison Lazarovitz with four, Paige Van Hulten with two and Peyton Cressy with one.

Middle hitters Peyton Cressy and Briana Adams dominated the net, and hitters Carly Brimhall, Leilani Liechti, and Amanda Cruz laid down key kills throughout the evening.

Setters Etter and Van Hulten were able to get multiple assists due to excellent digs and passes from Lazarovitz, Desiree Loya, Anna Jennings, and Loralei Hadley. Battling a shoulder injury, junior Kailee Sullivan supported her team and helped keep the team’s spirit alive throughout the matches.

Coach Celeste Hilderbrand said, “The scores were close in our matches, and I am proud of the way the team pulled together to get each win. They maintained their composure and eliminated unforced errors in order to earn the wins they have been working so hard for.”
