Alternatively known as Freedom Day, Jubilee day, and Liberation day; Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the United States. To honor that freedom, the City of Twentynine Palms will host an event on Saturday, June 19, from 4-8 p.m. at 6473 Cholla Avenue.
This year’s theme is “Together We Rise” and there will also be a discussion entitled “(Re)claiming Legacy: Black Wealth in Future America” at 7 p.m. The event will also feature vender booths, a wood grill for those who want to barbecue, as well as games and music.
