A judge on Wednesday approved a settlement agreement between the county jail and inmates that addresses the inmate’s medical and mental health care, housing practices, staffing levels, ADA compliance, and use of force procedures. The lawsuit was filed in 2016 over conditions in the county’s jails. The county agreed to hire neutral experts to evaluate the issues. After receiving the experts’ reports, the Sheriff’s Department and the inmates’ representatives negotiated a remedial plan that was incorporated into the settlement agreement.
