JTNP ASSOCIATION BEGINS FUND FOR MCCARTHY

The Joshua Tree National Park Association has set up a reserved fund to promote future archaeological programs in the name of Daniel McCarthy. If you wish to donate, Hilary Sloane will tell you how…

Daniel McCarthy was an archeologist, a disabled Vietnam Veteran, and the Tribal Relations Program Manager on California’s San Bernardino National Forest. He taught classes and led field trips for regional organizations ranging from the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree to the Malki Museum on the Morongo Reservation. McCarthy served as the president of the museum and was on the editorial board of its academic press. He had the trust and respect of tribal communities in Southern California.

Daniel McCarthy passed away this October from cancer. To donate to the Daniel McCarthy fund, go to the JTNPA website, joshuatree.org/donate. Donations must be noted for “Daniel McCarthy”.
