JOSHUA TREE WOMAN RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP

A Joshua Tree woman is one of three students from Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus who was awarded a scholarship from a women’s club in the lower desert. Amanda Wilson was recognized for her dedication and determination to give back to her community by the Palm Desert-Indian Wells Women’s Club, and received one of the club’s three scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year. Wilson is the first in her family to attend a university for a bachelor’s degree. She currently works as a licensed vocational nurse for a skilled nursing facility in Joshua Tree and plans to graduate from the Palm Desert Campus in 2015 and start working as a registered nurse. Wilson has volunteered for the Coyote Nurses, at the Hi-Desert Crisis Clinic, Reach Out Morongo Basin and at her local animal shelter. Wilson plans to continue her education by obtaining her master’s degree in community health nursing.
