JOSHUA TREE WOMAN KILLED IN DESERT HOT SPRINGS CRASH

Two people are dead—including a Joshua Tree woman—and nine were injured in a six-car crash in Desert Hot Springs Monday night. About 8:30 p.m. Monday, first responders were called to Palm Drive, just south of 20th Avenue for the crash. Dawn Andrus-Schlenker, 64, of Joshua Tree, and Guadalupe Perez, 34, of Desert Hot Springs were pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported one vehicle was on its side.The CHP reported that people were trapped in two vehicles. Nine other people were taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs and Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage. Palm Drive was closed in both directions for 11 hours while police investigated the crash. It’s not known at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
