JOSHUA TREE WOMAN ARRESTED WITH PIPE BOMBS IN HER CAR

A Joshua Tree woman was arrested Friday morning, after a deputy found what appeared to be homemade pipe bombs in her vehicle. According to a Sheriff’s report, Deputy Shaunna Ables stopped a vehicle near Highway 62 and Balsa Avenue about 10 a.m. for having an expired registration. Driving the vehicle with a suspended license was Christina Stanford, 45. Stanford had an arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance. During a search of the vehicle, Ables found methamphetamine and several homemade destructive devices resembling pipe bombs. The Sheriff’s Department Arson and Bomb squad responded and rendered the devices safe. Christina Stanford was arrested for investigation of possession of a destructive device, possession of methamphetamine, and on her warrant. She is being held at the Morongo Basin Jail on $525,000 bail.
