JOSHUA TREE WOMAN ARRESTED, TRIED TO STAB DEPUTY WITH DRUG-FILLED SYRINGE

A Joshua Tree woman who tried to stab a deputy with a drug-filled syringe was arrested Tuesday. A deputy was called to the 60800 block of Duvall Drive in Joshua Tree about 1:30 p.m. because the resident said a woman was trying to shoot up with drugs in his yard. The woman, identified as Carol Sullivan, 38, allegedly admitted to the deputy that she was there to do drugs, but the resident wouldn’t leave her alone. The deputy saw a hypodermic needle containing a brown liquid on the ground near Sullivan. When the deputy attempted to detain Sullivan, she grabbed the syringe, removed the orange safety cap, and tried to stab the deputy in the leg with the needle. Sullivan also allegedly threatened multiple times to kill the deputy. Carol Sullivan was arrested on suspicion of assault with a weapon and resisting arrest, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
