A Joshua Tree woman was arrested early Sunday morning, after she led Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed pursuit for miles through Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy spotted a gray Chrysler van driving westbound on Highway 62 without headlights about 2:30 a.m., and attempted to stop it near Palm Avenue. The driver, later identified as Sierra Embry, 29, refused to stop and continued westbound on the highway for 24 miles, driving at speeds reaching 100 miles per hour, and at times, failing to stay in one lane during the chase. Officers from the California Highway Patrol laid out spike strips in Morongo Valley, and Embry was finally stopped near Desert Willow Trail. Sierra Embry was arrested for investigation of felony evading, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $100,000.
