A county videoconferencing setup in Joshua Tree gets its inaugural use this week. Dan Stork has the when and where, and how it will be used…
Tuesday, May 7, is the date of the first County Supervisors’ meeting that can be attended by videoconferencing in Joshua Tree. Members of the public will be able to testify, make presentations, or just watch, without having to travel to San Bernardino. The videoconferencing center is located on the first floor of the newly opened Bob Burke Joshua Tree County Government Center at 63665 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree. The building also contains Supervisor Ramos’s Morongo Basin field office as well as offices for the Sheriff-Coroner, Land Use Services, the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk, and Probation. The public portion of Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting begins at 10 a.m. The public can make comment on all items being considered by the board throughout each meeting as well as general comments at the end of each meeting. There is no item on the May 7 agenda that specifically affects the Morongo Basin. The Board is expected to hear an appeal concerning the Dollar General store planned for Joshua Tree in the near future. Meeting agendas, action summaries, and minutes of supervisor meetings, as well as live and archived video of meetings can be viewed on the Internet at addresses that can be found in this story at kcdzfm.com.
