JOSHUA TREE SHAKESPEARE GUILD CLEAN-UP/Q-UP THIS SATURDAY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The Joshua Tree Shakespeare Guild is gearing up to renovate its newly-acquired space, and is hosting “Clean-Up/Q-Up” this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. They invite Twentynine Palms Marines to help with the massive clean-up effort. Located at 61850 Chollita Road in Joshua Tree, the 15,000 square-foot facility known as “JTopia” is being revitalized to house a Serenity Garden & Amphitheatre, with a 60-seat black box performance space, The Black Lotus Theater. Future plans include the Joshua Tree Shakespeare Guild Youth Summer Camp in August and after-school programs in the Fall. The day will include cleaning rooms on the grounds, moving and discarding furniture, and laying mulch in the garden. The organization is also in need of equipment and supplies (mops, brooms, buckets, etc.). Volunteers who donate a minimum of three hours will be treated to a barbecue dinner, and live entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m. In addition to a letter of appreciation to their command, participating Marines will get 2 complimentary tickets to the re-mount of Julius Caesar Friday, June 28, at the Black Lotus Theater. For more information and to sign-up, visit the Joshua Tree Shakespeare Guild on Facebook, or call 760-820-2239.
