A rally will be held Saturday in Joshua Tree to protest the partial government shutdown and its effects on Joshua Tree National Park and surrounding communities. The Shut Down the Shutdown rally is set for 10 a.m. to noon at the Cliffhanger Guides lot, south of Coyote Corner, near Park Boulevard and Highway 62 in Joshua Tree. Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in this non-partisan, peaceful First Amendment assembly to make their voices heard to end the shutdown, fund the government, pay federal workers and protect our parks.
