A Joshua Tree man who is supposed to be going through a year-long program for domestic violence was arrested over the weekend after an altercation with a neighbor. According to a police report, Donovan Hayes, 42, went to a neighbor’s house in the 62400 block of Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree about 4:30 p.m. The neighbor told police that Hayes pushed her uncle down and pushed her into a wall. During a search, deputies found unidentified drugs. Donovan Hayes was arrested for investigation of possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000. In May, Donovan Hayes was convicted of hitting a woman in the mouth during an argument over child custody. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail, four years probation, and weekly attendance at a program for domestic violence for a year.
