If you are a teenager, or have a teen between the ages of 16 and 18, who are interested in working in the outdoors next summer, make plans to apply to the Youth Conservation Corps. ROP Broadcasting student Daneita Chestnut fills in the details…
Joshua Tree National Park Youth Conservation Corps is starting up again this summer. Any high school students between the ages of 16 and 18 may apply. The eight-week program starts from Monday, June 15 and runs to Friday, August 7. YCC workers earn minimum wage working 40 hours a week. As a former YCC member I can tell you this job will not just be the best way to gain work experience, but also give kids a chance to get out and explore Joshua Tree National Park. Jobs include several divisions: trail crew, resources, and interpretation. Members will be assigned jobs best suited for them. Check your park for an application date.
