JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK: THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT

Seems there’s an app for everything nowadays, the latest is from Joshua Tree National Park. It includes an essentials and a nature guide for visitors. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says that’s not all…
The apps aims to help visitors get the most from their visit. It includes “The essentials guide,” which highlights favorite destinations, park history and family-friendly activities.
“The nature guide” describes flora and fauna visitors are likely to encounter. Outdoor activities available in the park are described along with information about the park’s unique nature and science.
“Citizen science” is an another app feature. It provides up-to-date information like the sighting of a Golden Eagle, a Desert Tortoise, or approaching weather.
“Eyes on the park” is also included and allows you to take a photo of graffiti, vehicle tracks off-road, or other issues park staff should know. It sends selected photos to rangers along with GPS coordinates.
And finally, an offline map allows users to navigate within the park when there is no cell coverage. Find the app under Joshua Tree National Park Essentials at iTunes or Google Play.
