Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent David Smith has revised some park regulations effectively immediately. Changes in the regulations include putting most archeological and cultural sites off limits to visitors. Those still open to the public are the “Disney petroglyphs” on the Barker Dam nature trail; Hidden Valley boulder; Indian Cave at Ryan Mountain; and surface structures associated with mines unless otherwise prohibited. Barker Dam has a 10-foot closure limit around the dam to protect the structure. Camping permits may not be transferred or sold. “Day use” has been changed to one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. The complete revised park regulations may be seen at a link in this story at Z1077fm.com.
