JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK ARTIST IN RESIDENCE TO PERFORM TOMORROW

A performance artist from Philadelphia will present the final event of Joshua Tree National Park’s artist-in-residence program Saturday, May 4. Gedney Barclay will present “Via Negativa,” a one-woman piece exploring the myth of Persephone, her first hours in the Underworld, and how creatures are transformed by their landscape. The performance, which starts at 6 p.m., will be 45 minutes to one hour outdoors at Lost Horse Cabin in Joshua Tree National Park. The piece involves a walking meditation; audience members will walk about one-half mile during the performance, and should not expect to sit throughout the event. Lost Horse Cabin is about halfway between the Boy Scout Trailhead and Hidden Valley, off a dirt road on the south side of Park Boulevard. While the performance is free, the standard entrance fee into the park still applies. For more information, call Caryn Davidson, at 760-367-3012.
