Every year, Joshua Tree National Park hosts two artists for their artist-in-residence Program. The opportunity is open to visual artists, performing artists, musicians and writers. One of those artists is now exhibiting their work online. Reporter Heather Clisby has more details…
Partnering with Big Read Morongo Basin, Joshua Tree National Park is hosting an online exhibition by Sharon Lee Hart, JTNP’s Fall 2019 Artist-in-Residence. Called ‘Be in the Wildlife’, the exhibition is a collection of photo-based works inspired by Hart’s residency within the Park borders.
The online gallery also includes artworks made by local students, and the artist will conduct a virtual educational program with students of the Institute for Inquiry in Joshua Tree.
An in-person exhibition of these artworks will show at the Park’s Black Rock Art Gallery in 2021. The online exhibition and program are a collaborative effort between The Black Rock Art Gallery and NEA Big Read Morongo Basin presented by Arts Connection.
