JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK ART EXHIBITION OPENS FRIDAY

“A Joshua Tree Love Story” is the title of the inaugural multimedia exhibition opening Friday, October 18 at the new Black Rock Art Gallery in Yucca Valley. Here with more details is reporter Ernest Figueroa . . .

Joshua Tree National Park artist-in-residence and ecologist Dr. Juniper Harrower’s art exhibition will feature abstract paintings along with a stop motion animation of Harrower and her young son’s explorations of the park. The animation uses dioramas, miniature props, intricate hand sculpted masks and magical realism to uncover the story of the delicate balance between the trees’ pollinating moths and root fungi. A “Joshua Tree Love Story” opens on Friday, October 18 with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and runs through January 20, 2020. The new gallery is located at the Black Rock Nature Center, 9800 Black Rock Canyon Road, Yucca Valley.
