A Joshua Tree man is being sought, accused of attempted murder late Saturday. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called about 9:30 p.m. to the 61500 block of Sonora Road in Joshua Tree for a vehicle theft. The victim told deputies that the suspect, later identified as Leonard “Randy” Kerneen, 32, came to the home and was using a rope to tie a 2004 Subaru to the back of Kerneen’s truck. When the Subaru’s owner came out of the house and asked Kerneen what he was doing, Kerneed allegedly fired one shot from a .22 caliber pistol at the victim, and then fled, towing the Subaru behind his truck. Deputies later located the stolen Subaru in the 63200 block of Pole Road in Joshua Tree. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Leonard “Randy” Kerneen should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
