A Joshua Tree man was arrested twice Tuesday, accused of burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance. According to Sheriff’s reports, a deputy came across Steven Clutter, 26, near the 66700 block of Appian Way about 9 a.m. Clutter said his vehicle had gotten stuck and he went into an unlocked and unoccupied residence in the 66700 block of Sunnyslope in search of water, and had taken juice, tea, and a fruit cup. The deputy determined that Clutter was exhibiting signs of being high, and arrested him for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance. While Clutter was being booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, the homeowner called and said a .38-caliber gun was missing from the home, although the deputy was unable to find a registration for the gun. Steven Clutter was also arrested on suspicion of burglary, with his bail set at $25,000.
