A Joshua Tree man was arrested Saturday after a high-speed pursuit with deputies in a stolen vehicle. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputy Kyle Smit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Ford F-250 with no license plates on Saturday, November 30, about 3:45 p.m. The driver, later identified as Victor Finn, 45, of Joshua Tree, failed to yield and Smit began pursuit. The deputy pursued Finn through Joshua Tree for several miles at high rates of speed. Finn eventually stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Two Mile Road and Border Avenue in Joshua Tree and attempted to flee on foot, but he was apprehended by the deputy. A records check of the vehicle showed that it had been reported stolen. During a search of the vehicle, Smit discovered heroin, cash, and drug paraphernalia. Victor Finn was arrested for investigation of failure to yield, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of narcotics for sale, and on an outstanding warrant; and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
