A Joshua Tree man was arrested Saturday after deputies learned he had been using a stun gun to discipline young children. According to a Sheriff’s report, parents of six children, ranging in age from 8 months to 11 years old, allowed a friend, Daniel Kitchens, 25, to stay with them at their home in the 62500 block of Golden Street in Joshua Tree. The parents occasionally had Kitchens look after their children while they were out. On Saturday, the parents learned that Kitchens had been using a hand-held stun gun on their 5-year-old boy as punishment, and that he had also used the stun gun on their 9-year-old boy when playing around with him. The parents notified the Sheriff’s Department about 12:23 p.m. After an investigation, Daniel Kitchens was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
