A Joshua Tree man was arrested Sunday (January 30), accused of stalking his ex-wife. According to Sheriff logs, deputies responded to the 62500 of Barbara Lane in Joshua Tree at 10 a.m. on January 30, for a report of vandalism. The victim allegedly told deputies that her ex-husband, Darrell Chavez, 53, had used his Ford F350 to vandalize her Ford Mustang. During the investigation the victim also claimed that she and her husband have been separated and Chavez has been stalking her for five months. Deputies were able to locate Chaves’s motorhome and conduct a traffic stop at which point they brought Chavez into custody without incident. Following an investigation, Darrell Chavez was arrested for suspicion of felony vandalism and stalking and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $150,000.
