A Joshua Tree man is accused of transporting drugs and was arrested Wednesday, following a short vehicle and foot pursuit. A Sheriff’s report says deputies from the Yucca Valley Multiple Enforcement Team attempted a traffic stop on a gray Dodge Ram truck at the intersection of El Reposo Circle and Easterly Drive about 2:30 p.m. The driver of the truck, Alfred Villegas, 47, refused to pull over and led deputies on a short pursuit to his home in the 61800 block of Valley View Circle. After pulling into his driveway, Villegas got out of his truck and fled north through an alley. Deputies ran after him, and after a short struggle, Villegas was taken into custody. Villegas is on felony probation for possession of methamphetamine for sales; a probation search found a large amount of methamphetamine. Alfred Villegas was arrested for investigation of transportation of methamphetamine, felony evading, and for a probation violation. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held without bail.
